Our Lady of Graces Received shows the Blessed Virgin Mary atop clouds and flanked by angels, her open palms raining heavenly graces down upon a country monastery and its nearby patronal village. This image was likely painted in thanksgiving to Our Lady for the graces received in ending a terrible cholera epidemic that the small coastal village had suffered. The people of the village have received healing and grace through Our Lady's intercession and now travel to the monastery to give thanks. Our Lady is depicted with common compositional elements to Western art, crowned with 12 stars and wearing a red tunic with a large blue mantle, just as with Madonna of the Host by Dominique Ingres, Mary Undoer of Knots by Schmittner, and many other Madonna images by Raphael, Botticelli, and Titian.
