Peter Paul Rubens was a Flemish painter who was known for his astounding vitality infused into a powerful and exuberant style that came to epitomize the Baroque art of the 17th century. He was one of the most productive of all Western artists, becoming the master of the greatest studio organization in Europe since Raphael.
