This banner stand is 78" tall by 33" wide and features the image of the Immaculate Conception by Murillo. Fully retractable and stored in an aluminum case, it takes less than a minute to extend the telescopic pole and unroll the Immaculate Conception by Murillo banner. Each unit includes a nylon travel bag for storage and transport, making the banner stand an excellent tool for priests, professors, and missionaries who travel and spread devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This renowned painting of the Immaculate Conception (1678) by Spanish Baroque artist Bartolomé Esteban Murillo effortlessly captures Mary as she who is truly "full of grace." While Murillo was painting this image, there was a theological debate going on about whether Mary was immaculately conceived. This argument, which is now a dogma, states that Mary was conceived without original sin (whereas the rest of humanity was conceived with original sin). As the Mother of God, crafted by God for the purpose of giving the Word flesh, the graces of Redemption that Jesus won on the cross were applied to her at the moment of her conception, before the Crucifixion took place in history (God could do this because He IS God and is not bound by "time!"). This immaculate woman is shown in white and blue cloths, being born by the baby-angels, bearing lilies and a palm branch to emulate her magnificent purity. The light in the image glows from her, as her gaze is directed upwards as one swooning in love. "Mary, conceived without original sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!"
From top-to-bottom, the banner stand measures approximately 78" tall when fully extended. In reality, the banner stand can be extended several inches more, but a total height of 78" is our recommendation for the best combination of visibility and stability.
