These alabaster bookends feature Mary, Undoer of Knots and a prayer for married couples. Keeping heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home and make the perfect personal Catholic wedding gift!
The original painting was commissioned in 1700 by Fr. Hieronymus Langenmantel. His grandfather, a German nobleman in the 1600's went to Jesuit priest Fr. Jakob Rem for advice on how to save his troubled marriage. Fr. Rem took the couple's wedding ribbon and untied the knots before an image of the Blessed Mother. When the last knot was untied, the ribbon became dazzling white. The nobleman's wife did not leave him, and the two remained happily married to Mary's intercession!
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish and will last for years to come.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"Blessed Mother, take int your hands the knots that affect married couples, and with your long fingers of love and grace, undo these knots for the glory of God.
Visit married couples with your grace, renew their sacramental covenant, increase God's love in them, and strengthen their bond of peace so that , with their children, they may always rejoice in the gift of your blessing.
Mary Undoer of Knots, pray for us."
