These alabaster bookends honor the Mary as patroness of Poland with the classic Our Lady of Czestochowa icon and a short prayer. Able to keep heavy books in line, these bookends both organize and decorate your home. This pair of bookends makes the perfect personal gift for anyone of Polish ancestry or with Marian devotions.
The famed image and title has been a source of inspiration and protection for the Polish nation and for all who love Mary as Queen. The icon has survived several attacks and was greatly loved by St. John Paul II because it honored the Blessed Mother Mary.
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"It is to You, O Holy Mother of God, that we go for refuge and protection. Look kindly on us as we cry to You in our need. Glorious and blessed Virgin, be with us always and rescue us from every kind of danger. Amen."
