Our Schoenstatt Madonna desk shrine is the perfect meditative and devotional gift of choice. With its beautiful imagery and elegant white marble or gilded gold leaf finish, this Schoenstatt Madonna desk shrine will adorn your home for years to come.
Schoenstatt means "beautiful place". The Schoenstatt movement is a Marian movement that originated in Bavaria, Germany, and has since spread all over the world. The movement emphasizes a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, upholding her as a perfect example of love and purity. It also calls its members to make a Covenant of Love with God the Father, giving their entire lives to Him. Mary is the primary example of such humility.
The title Mother Thrice Admirable, or "Mater ter Admirabilis" in Latin, is found in the Litany of Loreto and is widely used to refer to the Blessed Virgin Mary within the movement. The meaning of the title is multi-valent: Mother of God, Mother of Christ, Mother of all human beings; she is admirable in faith, hope and charity; she was virgin before, in and after the birth of Christ; Child of the Father, Mother of the Son, Spouse of the Holy Spirit.
The shrine itself is produced with stonecast alabaster which originates from the mineral gypsum, a highly regarded building and decorating medium that has been used since the time of ancient Egypt and boasts an attractive smooth finish.
It measures roughly 5.5"x8", including the 4"x6" inset image plaque. The back of the shrine features a secured easel for standing and a simple metal hook for hanging.
