These alabaster bookends feature St. Joseph holding the baby Jesus and a prayer for workers. Able to keep heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home. This pair of bookends makes the perfect personal gift for fathers and workers, as well as anyone with a devotion to this humble man who lived a life of purity and obedience out of love for Jesus.
The original image is a reproduction of a work by Guido Reni in the 17th century.
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"God, our Father, Creator and Ruler of the universe, in every age You call man to develop and use his gifts for the good of others.
With Saint Joseph as our example and guide, help us we pray to do the work you have asked and come to the rewards you have promised. Amen."
