These alabaster bookends feature the classic image of St. Michael defeating Satan by God's power. Able to keep heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home. This pair of bookends makes the perfect personal gift for those in the armed forces, police officers, firefighters, and everyone with a devotion to this greatest of soldiers under God's command.
The St. Michael prayer was composed by Pope Leo XIII and is a popular invocation asking St. Michael to defend us with the power of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen."
