These alabaster bookends feature a classic image of St. Thomas More, and a lawyer's prayer. This pair of bookends makes the perfect personal gift for the lawyer in your family and all who hold a devotion to this model of faithfulness and fatherhood. Able to keep heavy books in line, these bookends both organize and decorate your home.

The original portrait was done by German artist Hans Holbein the Younger in 1527. It is held in the Frick Collection, in New York.

The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish.

Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.

Text reads:

"A Lawyer's Prayer

Lord, grant that I may be able in argument, accurate in analysis, strict in study, candid with clients, and honest with adversaries. Sit with me at my desk and listen with me to my client's plaints, Read with me in my library, and stand beside me in court, so that today I shall not, in order to win a point, lose my Soul." -St. Thomas More
