Our Madonna del Magnificat ("Madonna of the Magnificat") by Sandro Botticelli intricately displays Mary as Queen of Heaven. Painted in the later 15th century, Botticelli used large amounts of gold to adorn the picture, making it one of his costliest paintings! The grandness of this reaffirms the grandeur of Mary as she is being crowned by Angels with a crown of numerous stars. This particular picture zooms in on Mary's disposition as she is urged to write the Magnificat, her song of praise to God in Luke 1:46-55, by the Christ Child. The connection of Mary as Queen with her praise of God reveals the cause of Mary's regality: God magnified within her - and her allowing Him to do so. This greatness is depicted on the Virgin's face as she writes the song of her soul with great seriousness, humble devotion, and piety. Currently, Botticelli's painting is on display at the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, Italy.
This moving image comes in a gold ornate frame as a high-quality canvas print. A truly artistic and religious addition to any home, business, or parish! Our Lady of the Magnificat, pray for us!
