This reproduction of the Madonna of the Rosary by Caravaggio shows Mary and Baby Jesus next to St. Dominic, who is holding rosaries out to the crowds of people flocking to him for intercession. St. Dominic is looking to Mary for help, and she looks back at him, pointing to the rosaries as if to say, "this is how I will help them". St Peter Martyr, a Dominican inquisitor who was assassinated, is standing on the right side pointing to Our Lord and Our Lady, testifying to the veracity of the devotion.
This painting is the only of Caravaggio's works in the style of a standard Baroque altarpiece. Though name of the commissioner is uncertain, the man on the bottom left who is looking back at the viewer is thought to be the patron of the painting.
This image comes as a high-quality art print with a white border.
