Slate has been used as an art medium and building material since antiquity due to its low water absorbency and natural beauty. Nelson's unique printing technology now allows old-world masterpieces and modern classics alike to be reproduced with fidelity and clarity on the surface on this ancient rock.
This image "Pentecost" by Jean II Restout depicts the coming of the Holy Spirit. The original was painted in the 1700s for the Monastery of St. Denis outside France and was placed in their dining hall. At some point, the canvas was vandalized and cut into the rectangular dimensions we have now. It is on display at the Louvre in Paris and stands just over 15 feet high, and 25 feet wide.
This Pentecost horizontal slate tile comes with two black easel "feet" to allow the tile to stand upright on a desk, shelf, or table. No two slate tiles are 100% alike.
